[Class] Ethics Class

This semester I choose a Ethic Class.
And why I choose it ? Because it's teaching in English.
I just want to practice my English listening ability, and want to get used to English teaching.

And this week, I just happened to find that we need to give out a 4 paper in next week.
The last week we saw a documentary named "A Inconvenient Truth".

I like it , not just because it's topic, but also the performer.
Al Gore.

But it's not important about movie.
It's important that we should write down our viewing feeling and discuss it with the tool we learn in class.

Actually, I am not learning much in that class.
But I know that the most thing I learned should be the attitude toward the question ,or the handout.

Since this is also one of the important reason I attend this class, I am very excited to prepare the paper.
I enjoy it ,perhaps.

Nowadays the new version of Ubuntu is released.
And boring guys like me rushed to update.
I wondered like some guys to the performance of newer version.
Many update comes after the distribution update, and huge software need to be installed or updated.

Now the system is updating ...

Snapshot in Life

These days I saw some photos from BlogPlay which take by different country people.I found that although the picture are so common for the photo provider, but to me , lived in Taiwan which is far far away, the every small stuff in the picture are some interesting to me.

So I took below two photos to share with anyone in the Internet. Whether you have interest in mine life or not, I just want to record my life ,which is such boring to me of course, and wish these photos may give you some different feeling from your normal living.

:)

Coffee Blogging

There have some time for me tonight to relax.
And I was straying in the internet and reading some blog.
Hmm ... some blog talking about Coffee.

As one of my interest, the coffee photos, news, or even articles make me excited.
Don't know exactly reason , but the photos gave me lot fancy.
The competition image , the travel note ,and beauty image give me lots of desire.

Being a student in Taiwan , I don't want to complain again, but just have many desire to have same experience like some people. Now I realize that one have to abandon something first ,and will have more courage to one aim.

A coffee maker in Taipei told me that Coffee is not the thing that you can play with it and gain large advance in it. You have to take it as a major profession and put lots of energy on it.

And ,there is one blog that I am very interested in it.

Inside the Whale (Part 3)

Inside the Whale

Where Miller's work is symptomatically important is in its avoidance of any
of these attitudes. He is neither pushing the world-process forward nor
trying to drag it back, but on the other hand he is by no means ignoring it.
I should say that he believes in the impending ruin of Western Civilization
much more firmly than the majority of 'revolutionary' writers; only he does
not feel called upon to do anything about it. He is fiddling while Rome is
burning, and, unlike the enormous majority of people who do this, fiddling
with his face towards the flames.

___________________________________________________________________________

When, for instance, the drunkard seizes the black cat and cuts its eye out
with his penknife, one knows exactly why he did it, even to the point of
feeling that one would have done the same oneself. It seems therefore that
for a creative writer possession of the 'truth' is less important than
emotional sincerity. ... It is the difference between genuine despair and a des
pair that is at least
partly a pretence. And with this there goes another consideration which is
perhaps less obvious: that there are occasions when an 'untrue' belief is
more likely to be sincerely held than a 'true' one.

___________________________________________________________________________

Mr E. M. Forster has described how in 1917 he read Prufrock and other of
Eliot's early poems, and how it heartened him at such a time to get hold of
poems that were 'innocent of public-spiritedness':

They sang of private disgust and diffidence, and of people who seemed genuine
because they were unattractive or weak. ... Here was a protest, and a feeble
one, and the more congenial for being so feeble. ... He who could turn aside
to complain of ladies and drawing rooms preserved a tiny drop of our
self-respect, he carried on the human heritage.

Even if that is objected to as an overstatement, it will probably be admitted
that Miller is a writer out of the ordinary, worth more than a single glance;
and after all, he is a completely negative, unconstructive, amoral writer, a
mere Jonah, a passive acceptor of evil, a sort of Whitman among the corpses.
Symptomatically, that is more significant than the mere fact that five
thousand novels are published in England every year and four thousand nine
hundred of them are tripe. It is a demonstration of the impossibility of any
major literature until the world has shaken itself into its new shape.

End of "Tropic of Cancer"

After everything had quietly sifted through my head a great peace came over me. Here, where the river gently winds through the girdle of hills, lies a soil so saturated with the past that however far back the mind roams one can never detach it from its human background.Christ, before my eyes there shimmered such a golden peace that only a neurotic could dream of turning his head away. So quietly flows the Seine that one hardly notices its presence. It is always there, quiet and unobtrusive, like a great artery running through the human body. In the wonderful peace that fell over me it seemed as if I had climbed to the top of a high mountain; for a little while I would be able to look around me, to take in the meaning of the landscape.

Human beings make a strange fauna and flora. From a distance they appear negligible; close up they are apt to appear ugly and malicious. More than anything they need to be surrounded with sufficient space - space even more than time.

That sun is setting. I feel this river flowing through me - its past, its ancient soil, the changing climate. The hills gently girdle it about: its course is fixed.

Hmm...it's about time to end

"Tropic of cancer" ,which i had read for few month, is about the end.

Tonight I finished the second last chapter, and there remain one chapter.
I can't say whether I am happy or sad. This book is not easy to read, but it's not boring to read too. The way Miller describe about the living , the style he owns ,the words he used, and the unclear concept or feeling he want to present. That's all the important key point to notice.

I am not profession in art or literature. I just want to happy during the reading.During the adventure , the tour in the pass age , and especially , in the eyes of Miller.

There are few books I read , and much fewer books I read in English version.
I was happy to choose English version in this book. Although there have many French words I don't know , even a French poem, I am happy in reading.

Thanks Miller, and I will treasure the last chapter.

Recent

Long time no return to Ubuntu,
Long time no read "Tropic of Cancer.

Nowadays I try hard to study (and maybe is not much hard for some standard),I late to study room but also late to left. I don't know how the attitude and how much hope I have toward the big exam in next year. So far I was too often to worry about future stuff, and now I try to let it goes. And because of that change, now I start to find whether the I want to pass the exam or not. Of course I want to pass. But I wonder in my deep mind too ,and in a secret and mystic way.

Now the computer are updating with the linux kernel , the book lie on the desk. With little light shine in the LCD , and in this late night in Taiwan, I am typing with absent mind.

I don't know what I want to record , but just have desire to write some thing.

Below are the paragraph in the Book.
Good Night.

The whole Mediterranean seemed to be buried inside him - the orange groves, the cypress trees, the winged statues, the wooden temples, the blue sea, the stiff masks, the mystic numbers, the mythological birds, the sapphire skies, the eaglets, the sunny coves, the blind bards, the bearded heroes. Gone all that. Sunk beneath the avalanche from the North. Buried, dead forever. A memory. A wild hope.
